Eucharistic Adoration

On May 1, 2007, Eucharistic Adoration will be held every Thursday from 6am-7pm. Eucharistic Adoration is now

being held downstairs in the Church in the K of C Hall.

What is Eucharistic Adoration:

"Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is...an important daily practice and becomes an inexhaustible source of holiness... It is pleasant to spend time with (Christ), to be close to His breast like the Beloved Disciple and to feel the infinite love present in his heart."           Pope John Paul II in The Church and the Eucharist

Eucharistic Adoration is the adoring of Jesus Christ present in the Holy Eucharist. We are called to be in the presence of Our Lord Jesus to praise, worship, give thanks, seek forgiveness, or "trusting intercession." You may come to pray and worship Jesus throughout the day.

Be still and know that I am GOD

                                                                                                                                                                      psalm 46:10

The Love of Jesus for us is limitless and never ending. Jesus gave himself to us in the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. What can we give back to Jesus? Can we give a few minutes of quiet love, prayer and adoration?

Our prayer is that your answer will be YES!

You may signup to be an "adorer" which means you can schedule yourself for a specific hour to pray before the very presence of Our Lord, exposed in the monstrance. Come be with Jesus. Read the Bible, pray the rosary, or just sit quietly.

If you are unable to dedicate an hour, you are welcome as a visitor at any time.

Participation in Eucharistic Adoration:

All are welcome to spend time with our Lord Jesus.

  • Times: Adoration is available every first and third Thursday of each month from 6am to 7pm closing with either Benediction or the Divine Mercy Chaplet.
  • Adorers are people who sign up for a specific hour. The sign up sheet is located at the side entrance of the Church.
  • Commitment to that hour is the responsibility of the "adorer". If you cannot make you hour PLEASE call a contact person in advance so the hour can be covered. JESUS CAN NEVER BE LEFT ALONE!
  • Visitors are welcome at anytime. The amount of time spent as a "visitor" is up to the individual.
  • Petition Basket: There is a basket available to write prayer requests. These requests remain in the presence of Jesus and are lifted up at the closing services. Your prayer requests are also prayed over by the Prayer Group and the Rosary Group.
  • Prayer Basket: There is a basket in the front of the altar with prayer booklets and short prayers for your spiritual enhancement.
  • Prayer Cards: These are available by the sign up sheet for those who want to offer their hour for a special intention.
  • Cell Phone: A cell phone is available beneath the prayer basket in the event of an emergency. If the next scheduled adorer does not show up or if you need to leave, please call a contact person.
Benediction:

Eucharistic Adoration closes with either Benediction or the Divine Mercy Chaplet. Benediction is a Eucharistic devotion. The priest vested in surplis, stole, ad cope, inceses the blessed sacrament, hymns are sung, there is a short time of meditation, praise and adoration, a novena is recited and the priest again incenses the Blessed Sacrament as the hymn "Tantum Ergo" is sung. He then blesses the congregation. After this blessing the Blessed sacrament is reposed to the tabernacle.

Divine Mercy Chaplet:

The Divine Mercy Chaplet is a special prayer prayed on the Rosary asking for God's mercy on ourselves and the world.

Begin with the Our Father, the Hail Mary and the Apostle's Creed:

Our Father

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, Amen.

Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen.

The Apostle's Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, Our Lord, who was concieved by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified; died, and was buried. He descended into Hell; the third day He arose again from the dead; He ascended into Heaven, and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

On the large bead before each decade:

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood,

Soul and Divinty of your Dearly Beloved Son,

Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins

and those of the whole world.

On the ten small beads of each decade, say:

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy

on us and on the whole world.

Conclude with (Recite 3 times):

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One,

have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Spending time with the Blessed Sacrament

Fr. Benedict Groeshel ponts out In the Presence of Our Lord: That there are "four kinds of prayer most appropriate in the presence of the Eucharist, namely adoration and praise, thanksgiving, repentance, and trusting intercession."

While in the presence of God, meditate with the Bible, pray the Psalms, recite prayers or favorite montra, speak to Jesus, listen to Jesus.
