"What
you do to the least of my brothers and sisters you do to
me."
The Caring Ministry of St. Patrick Church encompasses
visiting the sick and elderly in hospitals, nursing homes,
and in their own homes. In caring for others we listen,
tend to people's needs, try to lift their spirit, and bring
them the Bread of Life, Jesus our Lord. These visits are
made on a regular basis and for those requesting it weekly.

On
the fourth Thursday of each month Father Chuck celebrates
Mass for the residents of Cobalt Lodge. Sister Dominic Joseph
accompanies him and distributes Holy Communion to those
unable to come to Mass.
Commuion
is brought monthly to residents at Westside Manor,
formerly known as Barbara's Rest Home. Debbie Desrocher
conducts a prayer service which includes sharing the Sunday
Scripture Readings times a month.
As
part of our care giving ministry a Parish Nursing Program,
has begun under the direction of Maggie Coolican and Mary
Ann Doering. The focus of this program is the promotion
of health, wellness and healing. Blood pressure screening
is held the second weekend of the month after the 5pm Mass,
7:30 & 9:00am Masses and before the 11:00am Mass.

| Prayer
for Aging: |
Lord,
teach me how to grow old gracefully. Take away from me all
pride in my past accomplishments, in the feeling of being
indispensable.
Let me see in this gradual detachment from things nothing
more than the law of time, and make me aware that in these
changes lies one of the most interesting expressions of
a life which renews itself under the influence of Your Providence.
Allow me, O Lord, to be useful still by contributing with
optimism and with prayer to the joy and courage of those
whose turn it is now to bear responsibility, and let me
live in a humble and serene manner in relation to the changing
world without regrets over the past, by making of my human
sufferings a gift of social reparation. Let my departure
from the field of action be simple and natural like a joyous
sunset. Forgive me if only today in tranquility I am able
to understand how much You have loved me and helped me.
Let me at least now have a lively and penetrating perception
of the destiny of joy which you have prepared for me and
toward which You have directed my steps from the first hour
of my
life. Lord, teach me to grow old gracefully, Amen. (G.Perico,
S.J.)
