CYO Basketball

Mission:

The Main Objective of all Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) activities is the formation of Christlike youth or the participation and growth of Christian individuals. The basketball/cheering game/season should offer the opportunity for both the physical and mental growth and maturity of all the individuals involved. Athletics as such, do not automatically assure attainment of that objective. CYO athletics need to instill proper motivation; also behavior of those conducting/administering the activities should be example setting in order to serve as role models for our youth.

Game Schedule:

Team Practices:

Team practices are scheduled for Wed., Fri., & Sat., beginning in early Nov. Each team is usually guaranteed 2 practices per week minimally. Practices times for each team fun for 1 hour 30 minutes, depending on the day of the week and these practice times are scheduled between 6:15pm & 9:15pm (Wed. & Fri.) and 9am and 1:30pm (Sat.). The pracitce schedule is compiled with a few variables in mind. (1) younger grades (junior varsity teams) have more early practices than later due to the players' ages and (2) the parish office is consulted to determine which grade may potentially have faith formation classes on Wed. and if necessary, these variables are also factored into the practice schedule.

Program Fundraising:

The St. Patrick CYO Basketball program only has one major fundraise each year. That fundraiser is their Poinsettia sale in December. This fundraiser has been in exstence for many years and brings in significant dollars. Additional plants are purchased by the program and sold after Sunday masses for the first two Sundays in December. Plants are purchased through Cromwell Growers. These plants are delivered to us very hearty and healthy. If you are interested in purchasing plants, please see a basketball player, stop by the parish center after Mass during the first two Sundays in December or contact the parish office for more information.
